Why > What

Your product and service are important, but what’s your story? When you go deep and work on your story first, your marketing connects and resonates more deeply. Place your why over your what, and I guarantee you’ll see results.

Explain yourself.

Take a deep breath and explain your work to an outsider. Problems and solutions become clearer more quickly than when you play endless innings of inside baseball. Let’s talk it out, bring in some design thinking, and we’ll action whatever’s been keeping you up at night.

You’re not alone, you’re human.

No matter what industry you work in, the major challenges all ladder up to one thing: human nature. So, when it comes to solving complex business problems, you need to design a human solution. AI all you want (I use it, too), but humans still need humans.

If you’re not having fun, you’re doing it wrong.

People can smell fear or boredom from a mile away. If you’re not having fun doing it, they’ll know. If your process is too complicated, they’ll tune out. Roll down the windows and enjoy the ride, I promise to keep it interesting.

Feeding the beast?

It has to be worth it to keep doing it. Assess your full marketing mix, and you’ll likely realize there’s room to optimize. Strategic design thinking can keep you from overfeeding the beast and steer you toward what matters, what works, and where you want to be.
